Chiffon, from the French word for cloth, is a lightweight, balanced sheer fabric woven of alternate twist crepe yarns. The twist in the yarns puckers the fabric slightly in both directions after weaving, giving it some stretch and a slightly rough feel. Chiffon resembles a fine mesh under a magnifying lens which gives chiffon some see-through properties. Chiffon is commonly used in evening wear, giving an elegant and floating appearance to the gown. It is also a popular fabric used in blouses, ribbons, scarves and lingerie. Lingerie Photos One |
